Toridio lived in New York for 4 years before he was deported back to the Dominican. After a cousin introduced him to cocaine his life spiraled out of control. Toridio is now halfway through a year long rehab program due to addictions to cocaine, crack and alcohol that left him living on the streets for 10 years. "I have to change my life because I cant go back no more.” Toridio said.

The men ask vendors for free food and pick scraps off the ground. They visit the market twice a week, to find enough food for the 20 men that live at the house.

The men of Meson de Dios make 300 doughnuts every afternoon and sell them on the street for 10 pesos. All proceeds from the doughnuts go back to the house and the men that live in it.

Half of the men are working on a year long rehab program and the other half are graduates of the program. There is a lot of tension between the leaders and the men in the program.

Teodoro has spent the last six months at Meson de Dios home for drug rehabilitation. Meson de Dios offers a year long program to help recovering drug users. The program directors allowed Teodoro to leave for two day to visit his family.

Toridio had not seen his mother in nine years due to an addictions to cocaine, crack and alcohol that left him living on the streets. When Toridio first arrived his mother did not recognize him and grew upset. Soon Toridio's sister calmed her down and Toridio was able to reconnect.
